It's Fresh, Exciting*: New Products From Fresh, Coming This Fall

This fall, Fresh will expand its fragrance portfolio with a new scent, Strawberry Flowers, created in celebration of Sephora’s 10th anniversary. The company is also expanding its bath and body, skin care and makeup offerings with a bevy of new beauty products.

Launching exclusively at Sephora in September, Strawberry Flowers Eau de Parfum is a fruity floral scent, designed specifically for a younger, Sephora customer. The fragrance, inspired by the scents of a typical spring morning, is composed of top notes of mandarin, yuzu and white peach, middle notes of mountain strawberries, freesia, orange blossom and osmanthus, and base notes of orris, musk and white woods.

Also in September, Fresh will debut the Fig Apricot body care collection, based on its top-selling Fig Apricot Eau de Parfum, which launched a decade ago. The collection will include a bath/shower gel and a body cream and will be sold at Barneys, Neiman Marcus, Sephora, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bluemercury.

Fresh’s fall color collection includes the Imperial Bedroom Face Palette, and a new Firebird Mascara. The palette’s cream-based colors include iridescent pearl and warm antique gold eye shades, an opalescent black eyeliner, a shimmer highlighter for the cheeks and a deep red gloss for the lips. Inspired by a Russian fairy tale and based on the company’s best-selling mascara, Fresh Supernova, Firebird is designed to thicken, lengthen and curl lashes. “Supernova gives your lashes a thick, dark and more defined look, whereas the soft lightweight fibers on the Firebird brush gives it a feathery and flirty feel,” said Alina Roytberg, Fresh’s co-founder and creative director.

Fresh has also come out with Twilight Freshface Glow, a multifunctional illuminating cream. The primer is designed to be used as a highlighter along cheekbones, brow bones and décolletage. On the retail front, Fresh has plans to open several freestanding stores by the end of the year.

This month, the company will open a location in Century City, Calif., followed by another store in Dallas’ Northpark Center in October. The company is also looking to open a store in Philadelphia (oh please, please...with Sugar Lip Treatment on top!) along with additional stores in the Northeast.

Lazy Night: Purity Made Simple High-Foaming Daily Cleanser

Oh yes it's lazy night
And the cleanser's right
Oh yes it's lazy night
Oh what a night (oh…what a night)

I admit it. I’m lazy. I love to pile on the makeup, but hate to take it off. When it’s time for beddy bye, I just want to bypass the bathroom pit-stop, slink under the covers and drift off to sleep. Sometimes I justify my laziness by reasoning that I only wore mascara and lipgloss during the day…so a nighttime cleansing would be nice, but isn’t entirely necessary. Damn, I’m lazy.

Fortunately, my indolent ass just discovered Philosophy’s new Purity Made Simple High-Foaming Daily Cleanser. Philosophy took their best-selling creamy face wash and whipped it into a fabulous foam. The paraben- and sulfate-free formula gently melts away the toughest makeup, dirt, oil and debris, and leaves the skin refreshingly clean (not dry or tight). Just dampen skin and dispense 2-3 pumps of cleanser. Massage onto skin for 30 to 60 seconds and rinse. That’s it.

I suppose even the laziest of the lazy has 30-some seconds to spare. Plus the cleanser is so amazing, you’ll momentarily forget how much you loathe late-night face washing.

Purity Made Simple High-Foaming Daily Cleanser is available at Nordstrom, Sephora, and philosophy.com.

Take it away, Kool and the Gang...

You Glow Girl: ModelCo Body Meringue Bronze Glow

This past weekend, my sis, Lauren, finally caught up to her ID and turned 21. On the agenda for Saturday night was a Sex And The City-inspired partay at a hip lounge, with loud music and libations.

Pre-celebration, Lauren coached me on exactly what to wear (LBD from Arden B), how to style my hair (flipped at the ends, volume at the crown, and side-swept bangs), and my makeup look (bronze smoky eye, a hint of color on the cheeks, and glossy pale lip)…just in case premature Alzheimer’s had set in and I forgot how to work it.

So, just to prove that I’m still stylish and hip in my old age – I decided to up the beauty ante by self-tanning with ModelCo Body Meringue Bronze Glow, an all-in-one instant bronze shimmer and gradual self-tanner with skin-firming benefits. This weightless foam hydrates, protects, and leaves the skin feeling firm while offering a light buildable, natural tan. After smoothing the foam on (absolutely no mess whatsoever), a light instant bronze appeared so I could see exactly where I applied. I waited 10 minutes for it to dry, and over the next few hours, my tan gradually deepened...and left a subtle, sexy shimmer on my skin for added glow.

The best part about this product? Skin is left feeling firm and toned with active ingredient SLIMFIT® LS 9509 - which works to reduce the appearance of the visible orange peel effect associated with cellulite. I can’t remember the last time my gams looked this good! My only pet peeve, however, was the scent...but it was faint and easy to overlook, considering how blinded I was by my gorgeous golden glow. I would have topped off my tan with a spritz of ModelCo’s Airbrush Shimmer Luminizer, but I didn’t want to steal the spotlight from the birthday girl.

ModelCo Body Meringue Bronze Glow is available at Sephora and modelco.com.

Fierce, Fabulous and Flawless With Help From Cargo Cosmetics

Last week, Mr. Spoiled Pretty abandoned his loving wife in favor of a camping/fly-fishing excursion to Idaho. Now you know I wasn’t about to go hiking up mountains and trek through the wilderness to chill with rattlesnakes, horse flies and mosquitoes. So I stayed my ass at home and caught up on some reading, writing, and arithmetic (I took inventory of my makeup stockpile, and I’m slightly embarrassed by my excessive collection of lipglosses).

By the time the weekend came around, I had developed such a case of cabin fever that it didn’t take long for my BFF, Kristen, to lure your resident recluse out of the house. After some indecision, we opted to meet at a low-key bar and catch up over cheap, domestic beer. It’s been crazy hot in Philly lately, so I didn’t put too much thought or effort into my outfit, hair, or makeup; I threw on some jeans, quickly flat ironed my hair, and swiped on some Cargo blu_ray™ High Definition Mattifier before finishing my face off with mascara and gloss.

Around midnight, after drinking probably a little too much (pitchers are dangerous cuz I can never keep count), I took a bathroom break. I perched my handbag on the sink, rummaged for my blotting papers, and prepared to sop up the grease. But when I looked in the mirror, I was absolutely astonished. My face was flawless (well, flawless as in shine-free…not flawless as in resembling Liya Kebede).

And my face remained that way until I washed it off before bed. In fact, the only oil-related incident that night was a basket of greasy fries that Kristen and I couldn’t resist ordering just before last call.

Cargo blu_ray™ High Definition Mattifier is available at cargocosmetics.com and Sephora.

Posie Tint: Your Summertime Friend, With Benefit

In the summertime, makeup slides off my face like it was made of Teflon. Which is why cheek/lip stain is a makeup bag must-have for me. But have you noticed how most stains fall into the fuchsia family? Fine for autumn and winter…but I’m not trying to look like a ski bunny in July.

Luckily, there’s Posie Tint, a warm weather-appropriate version of Benefit's cult-favorite Benetint.

I’m not going to lie…at first glance, its shocking Pepto Bismol color might induce nausea, heartburn, and/or indigestion. But once you see the petal-pink perfection on your cheeks and lips, you’ll agree…Posie Tint is blooming genius!

Posie Tint is available at Sephora and benefitcosmetics.com.

80s Ladies Week: Oh, Cargo...You're So Fine!

If you caught yesterday’s installment of 80s Ladies Week, you know that I’m pretty handy with the pom-poms. So it should come as no surprise that one of my childhood idols was singer/choreographer/fellow Philadelphian, Toni Basil.

For today’s 80s-inspired product review, I’m going to steal a line from Toni’s pop music classic…

Oh, Cargo you’re so fine,
You’re so fine you blow my mind.
Hey Cargo!
Hey Cargo!

On the 4th of July, I was invited to a late-evening barbecue not too far from my own apartment. I had to hoof it because there was no chance of finding parking anywhere in the vicinity of the art museum, which serves as backdrop for the city’s Independence Day festivities. The weather was pretty typical for July - hot and humid – with a light drizzle.

So before heading out the door, I finger painted with Cargo’s Melt-proof 3 in 1 Eye-Cheek-Lip Palette and swiped on some Better-than-waterproof Mascara. Eight city blocks later, I showed up at the party looking perfectly polished - and you know how shiny I can get. And when I returned home late that night, my makeup still looked freshly applied!!!

The Cargo Melt-proof Make-up Collection, which also includes a Melt-proof Bronzer, is limited-edition and costs $39 (retail value is $90). Pick this up immediately, you'll thank me later. You will be absolutely amazed at the staying power – it’ll blow your mind!

Cargo products are available at Sephora, Amazon.com, and cargocosmetics.com.

Too Faced Lash Injection

If you’re a regular reader of Spoiled Pretty, you’re pretty familiar with my escapades. You know that I’m not a morning person, and I often go to work without a stitch of makeup. I relish my extra 10 minutes of sleep so much that I will endure a day’s worth of embarrassment, without regret.

But last week, I should have been ashamed of myself. One morning during my commute, I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the bus window. And let me tell you…it was a serious case of shock and awe. I won’t get into the specifics - but let’s just say that despite the lack of available seats that day, the one next to me remained empty for my entire trip.

The bus was only five or so blocks from my stop, so I smoothed my hair as best I could and furiously burrowed in my bag – looking for some miracle product to salvage my grave facial situation. I pulled Too Faced Lash Injection from my handbag and prayed for the best, as this mascara was a sample that I had yet to try. As the bus quickly neared my destination (why is it that the commute goes faster when you’re stalling for time?), I haphazardly swiped on Lash Injection without a mirror – closing the cap and re-depositing in my purse just as the bus doors opened at my stop.

Once inside my office building, I fell into my usual routine: rode the elevator to my 2nd floor office, booted up my laptop, logged onto my work email account, and checked my voicemail. By the time I finished doing all of the above, I became so engrossed in work that I had forgotten all about my scary hair and pallid complexion. But then, something strange happened.

Four co-workers, passing by my office, stopped in to compliment me on my mascara. Now, I dunno if it’s because I rarely wear mascara to work. Or if, despite sloppy application, Lash Injection delivers “the look of lash extensions.” Whatever the reason, I’m a sucker for compliments – so I may just start waking up a minute or two early so that I have time to apply Lash Injection before leaving the house. Imagine the response when it’s carefully applied!

Too Faced Lash Injection is available at Sephora, Douglas, Nordstrom, and at toofaced.com.

Sephora Finally Nails It: Beauty Behemoth Makes Nice With OPI

I adore Sephora as much as your average makeup addict. For skincare, hair products, and color cosmetics, Sephora and I are BFF. But when it comes to nail polish, we’re more like frienemies.

For what seems like forever, they’ve been coming up seriously short in that department. I mean, the beauty emporium isn’t completely bereft of nail lacquer…but you don’t have much to choose from in terms of brands or shades.

When Sephora unveiled NARS Orgasm nail polish a few months ago, I thought it might be enough to mend this rift in our relationship. But I wasn’t particularly impressed by the orange creamsicle-like color on my tips. Nice try, Sephora…but no dice.

Now, I hear that OPI has teamed up with Sephora to create Sephora By OPI, a collection of 54 stylish shades – each with a price tag of $9. I think this is another of Sephora’s thinly-veiled attempts to woo me and get back in my good graces. And by the sound of this line, it’ll likely work.

Sephora By OPI will include a base coat, top coat, nail color drying drops, remover, and on-trend colors. The long-lasting, chip-resistant polishes are free of DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde. Sephora by OPI Nail Polish will be available at Sephora stores in early August, and on Sephora.com in late July.

I haven’t gotten my hands on this collection yet, but with names like Don't Go There, I'm With Brad, Never Enough Shoes and Metro Chic, how could it be bad?

For a sneak peek at the polishes, pop on over to Beauty And The Blog.

I've Got You Babe

While accompanying my mom on a recent trip to the Willow Grove Mall, I found myself drawn - like a moth to a flame - to the NARS counter at Bloomingdale's.

I was beyond thrilled to have finally hunted down the elusive Galapagos Eye Shadow, which was sold out at the first four stores I had visited. Before ringing me up, the saleswoman asked if my order was complete. I said yes, but then my eyes were seduced by the beauty of Babe Lip Gloss. It took me all of 30 seconds to decide that my lips would look delicious drenched in its sheer, fruit-punch red goodness.

I've worn Babe every day since, and I'm enamored. Punch drunk love, I call it.

NARS is available at Amazon.com, Bloomingdale's, Blue Mercury, Lord and Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Sephora.

Hanae Had Me At Hello

This past weekend, I took a trip to the mall…shout-out to KOP (you Philly gals know what I’m talkin’ about). I was in Nordstrom’s cosmetics department for, literally, three minutes before a salesperson had me sold on a bottle of Hanae Mori Butterfly Eau Fraîche.

I usually spend weeks hemming and hawing over a new fragrance, and only break down and buy it once I’ve decided that my pulse points can’t live without it. Well, with Eau Fraîche, it took me approximately 180 seconds to come to this conclusion.

As I reported a few months ago, the latest incarnation of my favorite fragrance is the lightest formulation yet; this variation is airier and perfect for warmer weather. The new top notes of sparking tangerine and grapefruit lend a summery kick, but the fragrance dries down to the familiar notes of red fruits, wild berries and summer woods.

Besides the intoxicating scent, what really convinced me to swipe the plastic was the price tag. A 3.4 oz bottle of this limited-edition fragrance is only $65.

Hanae Mori Butterfly Eau Fraîche is now available at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom*, Bloomingdale’s, select Macy’s and Sephora.

*Receive a Butterfly Body Lotion (0.2 oz.) and deluxe mini Eau de Toilette (0.04 oz.) with any $65 Hanae Mori purchase - online and in-store.

The Naked Eye

I don't typically get excited by makeup removers. But Balms Away, a new vitamin-infused, skin-soothing eye makeup remover from TheBalm has me intrigued. What makes it so special? It's solid!

Simpy apply a dollop to each closed eye, massage in a circular motion for 3o seconds, and remove with a tissue. Perfect for travel, and for gals on the go.

Available at thebalm.com and Sephora.

Lise Watier: Lip-Smacking (and Plumping) Good

Have you seen or heard about LipFusion Plump + Replump Liquid Lipstick? Supposedly, it plumps and then re-plumps every time you lick your lips. My sister, Lauren, and I discovered this purported plumper a few weeks back and were less than impressed.

First, not one of the seven shades did we find at all appealing - and when it comes to lipsticks and glosses, we subscribe to the Tim Gunn "Make It Work" philosophy. The colors are much too opaque and creamy, and quite uninspired - if you ask me. Plus it burned like the dickens. Lauren and I found ourselves furiously licking our lips - not to re-activate the product, but to lessen the pain. Finally, we just wiped it off. It was a hot mess, literally.

And even if you're a fan of maximum strengh lip plumpers, you're guaranteed to feel a sting, alright..at the register. One tube costs $38!

If you're looking for a new lip plumping product, I recommend that you try Lise Watier's Plumpissimo. This gloss instantly plumps the lips thanks to its cutting edge formula. Dehydrated Hyaluronic Filling Spheres penetrate small vertical lines, instantly expanding upon contact with water naturally present in the skin, to make lips look fuller. The result is an shiny, plumped pout - with no pain!

It's available in six shades (I'm a fan of Corail) and it'll make you want to lick your lips - because it smells and taste like an orange Fruit Roll-up. Remember those? Mmmmmm.

And Plumpissimo won't deflate your wallet. It will only set you back $20.

What's The Scoop?

I love nail polish. But to be honest – I don’t wear it all that often because I’m too lazy/busy to do them myself or to go get them done. So nine times out of ten, you’ll see me with bare nails.

Because I sport nekkid nails so often, one of my pet peeves is gunk under my fingernails. Anytime I’m playing the waiting game or trying to kill time, I find myself picking at my nails – making sure they’re not embarrassing me.

I used to think that orange sticks were great, but you really don’t know what you’re missing until you’ve tried the Sephora Brand Nail Scoop Cleaner. It’s got this miniature scoop on the one end that really gets under nails and removes every little bit of debris. Quickly and easily. It’s one of those beauty implements that makes you think, “What did I ever do without this in my life?”

Urban Decay Brow Box Eyebrow Kit

My eyebrows have been looking seriously jacked lately. That's what happens when you don't touch them in over three months.

Yes, I'm aware that eyebrows frame the face. And I know that they'rethe cornerstone of a polished look. I know, I know. But the truth is that – as much as I talk a good game on this blog – eyebrows make me nervous.

I'm afraid of plucking. I don't dare think of waxing myself. And everytime I fill them in, I end up looking a bit like Joan Crawford on a good day – and Groucho Marx (minus the moustache) on a bad one. So usually, I just leave it to the professionals. That is, until Urban Decay invented the Brow Box Eyebrow Kit.

This is the definitive brow kit. I'm not exaggerating. Amazingly, Urban Decay somehow managed to fit two shades of brow color, mini tweezers, a mini angled brush, and brow wax into a pretty, palm-sized kit. And it's one of those rare products that's so super easy to use, it goes on flawlessly – and you look like a pro. Love it!

You need to go get this kit, ladies…You know you want this kit…Oh, just go get the kit already.

Available at urbandecay.com and Sephora.

Mystic Tan – Now At Sephora

Here comes the sun…

Just in time for Spring, Mystic Tan has launched an at-home tan line (get it?) that will be sold at Sephora.

“Mystic Tan is an incredible brand and we jumped at a chance to partner with them,” said Betsy Olum, senior vice president at Sephora.

There are two kits - one for the body and one for the face:

The Perfect Tan Kit - Face includes Mystic Tan Sunless Tanning Spray, Mystic Tan Sunless Conditioning Complex Face, and Mystic Tan Shimmer Face.

The Perfect Tan Kit - Body includes Mystic Tan Sunless Tanning Spray, Mystic Tan Sunless Conditioning Complex Body, and Mystic Tan Sunless Enhancing Moisturizer Body.

Each kit costs $54 and will create and maintain a tan for four to six weeks. Both utilize “built-in technology to help prevent unnatural-looking color development and common concerns associated with self-application.”

Replacement products are sold individually, and are priced between $26 and $38.

Available now at Sephora.com. Coming soon to a Sephora shelf near you.
